The overall process of barley straw pretreatment for bioethanol
production was examined in this study. The results revealed
that the optimal conditions using CHEMET reactor were 86.61 ◦C,
0.58 M, and 84.79 mL/min for temperature, sodium hydroxide
concentration, and flow rate, respectively, and that the BTER was
70.01%. After pretreatment under optimum conditions, pretreated
barely straw was simultaneously saccharified and fermented with
30 FPU/g cellulose of the Cellic® CTec II, 15% weight of Cellic® CTec
II of Cellic® HTec II, and 7% (v/v) of yeast (S. cerevisiae CHY 1011) at
150 rpm and 32 ◦C for 88 h. The highest ethanol concentration was
43.86 g/l at 20% of biomass concentration and the ethanol yield was
77.36%. The highest ethanol yield was 92.87% at a 10% biomass concentration
and the ethanol concentration was 28.41 g/L. Based on
these results
