The preparation of the foamed PVC/rice hull composites in the current research consists of three experimental steps.
The first step was the modification of AC by 20 wt% zinc oxide [1], to produce the mAC with a suitable decomposition temperature for the melting range of the PVC.
The second step concentrated on producing fine particles of rice hull by using grinding and sieving machines.
The final step focused on fabricating the foamed PVC/rice hull by using an industrial-scale single screw extruder (Shen Wei Da, 45/90). The temperature and the screw speed were set at 165– 185 °C and 50 rpm, respectively. The extrusion was conducted for the designed formulations with the mAC contents at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt% together with 20 wt% rice hull.
