The seminar was aimed at giving the public information on earthquake impacts and how to prepare for one after people in many parts of Thailand felt tremors when the 6.7-magnitude quake rocked Burma last Thursday. The earthquake also triggered a series of more than 50 aftershocks or separate earthquakes, causing damage to buildings, temples and houses in Chiang Rai province.
Mr Suttisak said he was not worried about the impact on large dams from earthquakes in Thailand because of their high safety standards.
