The study commenced in 2001, and the results after two year follow up were reported in this paper. After the two years of follow-up, 12.7% of men and 15.9% of women did not return or died, so follow up data were based on the information
of 1745 men and 1682 women. For the present analysis, 797 subjects were excluded because they were identified as demented by Mini-Mental State Examination. This resulted in a total of 2630 subjects for this current study. Subjects who did not return after two years were older, less educated, had poorer quality of life (physical component of SF-12) and had higher GDS score at baseline. In men, subjects who defaulted follow up were more depressed and had more comorbidity compared with those who returned. Their baseline characteristics were shown in Table 1
