“Yes. And a traveler’s life isn’t safe, you know. When I went up in an areoplane, I felt unhappy. An aeroplane seems to be safe, but I was always glad when I reached the end of the journey.”
“I never fly,” said Porter. “I don’t like aeroplanes.”
“I hope that I shall never fly again,” said Neal. “But other things are unsafe too. Once I was in a ship which caught fire.”
“Did they put the fire out?”
“Yes, they put it out after a lot of hard work. There we were, far away on the sea, in a burning ship. It wasn’t very nice. Then, at another time, I was driving a car along a road at night. I was very tired, and I was alone. The car ran off the road and nearly fell into a river.”
“Why did it do that?”
