The limitation of present study is that, it considers only
the optimization of a single parameter at a time. But in a real
practical situation simultaneous optimization of various
parameters has to be looked into. Taguchi method has been
basically designed for the optimization of single parameter
only. Several problems are encountered in the simultaneous
optimization of multiple quality characteristics. This is
because different levels of the same factor could be optimum
for different characteristics. Then it becomes necessary to
make some trade-off while choosing the optimum factor levels. This depends upon the engineering judgment and
verified by confirmation experiments. Moreover, in the
practical grinding situations, generally, the optimum strategy
is to maximize the material removal rate (or minimize
the grinding time) subject to the constraints of the required
surface finish and the burning thresholds (or grinding force
limits). The application of the Taguchi method must be
extended to meet this optimization strategy.
