The results suggest that ERP’s ability to produce accurate, up-to-date information and wellformatted
(see Table 2) information may not necessarily translate into differential benefits. It may be
that creative use of information is crucial to creation of any differential values, rather than simply the
information output from the system. Another possible reason is the commonality of the system’s
information output, which creates difficulty in gaining competitive advantage unless information is
used in a way that creates competitive advantage. The growing maturity of ERP systems could also be
another reason for production of a consistent level of information quality for the adopting
organisations, which does not lead to any unique benefits.
