2.3. Characterization
UV–vis absorption spectra of synthesized materials were recorded
using HP 8453 spectrophotometer. Structural characterization
was done with a Raman microscope (Renishaw, inVia),
operating with 785 nm excitation laser source.
Dynamic light scattering (DLS) technique was used to determine
the particle size of materials and f (zeta) potential. Malvern
Nano ZS instrument with a 633 nm red laser was applied. Colloidal
aqueous solutions of nanomaterials (ca. 0.1 g dm3
), without any
ultrasounds pretreatment, were subjected to these measurements.
Prior to analysis the sample was pumped through a folded capillary
cell (DTS1060), while MPT-2 autotitrator was used for automated
pH-dependent f potential measurements. Malvern Instruments
Dispersion Technology software was used for data analysis.
Hydrophilicity of synthesized films (neat and modified) was
