At one center, Klebsiella was most prevalent pathogen (usually associated with hematogenous dissemination or post neurological states), followed by Proteu s and Enterobacte r spp. In one review of 41 patients with autogenic brain abscess, Proteus was isolated in 41% of cases . Multiple organisms are cultured in 14% to 28% of cases in patients with positive culture results. The incidence of negative cultures has ranged from 0% to 43% in selected
