an award-winning Canadian artist and architect who teaches as a guest lecturer at great universities around the world. He is interested in interactive architecture, structures and people who like to go in a dialogue. To Beesley architecture has nothing to do with building straight rigid structures in which people live. To Beesley architecture lives. He builds with delicate materials and puts them together in expansive, woven, networked establishments. The boundaries between nature and architecture become a blur in his works.
His last work shows a structure as seen in nature, build out of glass, polymers and metal. Because of integrated motion sensors his establishment reacts to the visitor. One reaction is followed by the next one. The following sequences remind you of a simple brain. Next thing you know, the establishment really becomes alive.
Philip Beesley has his first exhibition with his project EPIPHYTE MEMBRANE in Germany. His work exist out of more then 25.000 parts, it takes the visitor with it to a world with an abstract dimension, which shows the fragile relation between human and its surroundings.
EPIPHYTE MEMBRANE was created specially for the PHOTOGRAPHY PLAYGROUND, and is shown to the public for the first time.
