The typical optical absorption spectra at 60% of Bi2O3, PbO and
BaO in silicate glasses are shown in Fig. 7. Due to the homogeneous
distribution of Bi2O3, PbO and BaO in the glass matrices obtained
from the quenching method, all glass samples were transparently
yellow. The intensity of yellow glasses was increased with the
increasing content of Bi2O3, PbO and BaO. The Bi2O3 glass exhibits
the strongest intensity of yellow color followed by PbO and BaO
glasses, respectively. The optical absorption edge is not sharply defined
in the glass system prepared, which clearly indicates the amorphous nature of glass samples. It is observed that the cutoff
wavelength of glasses in descending were Bi2O3 (510 nm), PbO
(420 nm) and BaO (370 nm), respectively
