time–dose showing increases of 28.5% and 54.7%, respectively,
while in the remaining time–doses they were not affected (Fig. 1a).
Agreeing with data of UV-B absorbing compounds the total phenolic
concentration also increased at 2 and 3min time–dose (31.3%
and 19.3%, respectively) (Fig. 1b). However, maxima levels of UVB
absorbing compounds and total phenolics have not coincidence.
In albedo, there were no significant changes in both UV-B absorbing
compounds and total phenolics. Noteworthy, in both control
and UVB-treated lemons the secondary metabolites were higher in
flavedo than in albedo.
