Antioxidant levels in the plasma (at 0d postpartum)
and colostrum of the sows and in piglet plasma were
significantly increased with GE concentration compared
to the control group(Table 2). Total phenolic content was
significantly increased in the plasma (at 0d postpartum)
of sows by GE supplementation, but there was no difference in content of the colostrum. Supplementation with
0.5% GE significantly increased IgG concentration in the
plasma and colostrum of sows, but the increase in the
level in piglet’s plasma was not significant (P40.05).
Supplementation with GE did not significantly affect total
protein level in the plasma of both sow and piglet a long
