Pet Peeves
What can’t you stand? What drives you crazy?
Do you have a pet peeve? Write about it. Add your pet peeve to the list.
● Standing in line at checkout counters at the supermarket.
● Listening to people talking on their cell phones in restaurants. It’s annoying.
● When people talk on their cell phones and drive.
● People who use words like cool and stuff all the time. Also, people who use the word like all the time. The word takes the place of adjectives, nouns, and intelligence.
● Running to the phone and finding out it’s a telemarketer.
● People who lost weight and now try to control what others eat.
● People who are always late. People who are late and don’t apologize.
● Dogs on beaches and in elevators and restaurants. People who let their dogs loose in public or let them jump up on everyone.
● People who don't clean up after their dogs.
● People talking at the movies, especially repeating everything you’ve just heard.
● I can’t stand people who chew with their mouths open.
● It drives me crazy when I call up a company and I get “Dial 1 for X, 2 for Y, 9 for Z” and so on. Or the common statement, "Your call will be answered in the order it was received." Then you have to listen to boring music while you wait.
● When people don’t give up their subway or bus seats to older people or to people with disabilities.
● People who stand in the way of others who want to use an escalator or doorway.
● People who change the TV channel without asking.
● People who stand in the way in front of the TV during the last 30 seconds of a show.
● People who "borrow" stuff without asking and don't give it back.
● Guests who put their feet on your furniture.
● Leaving dirty dishes in the kitchen for roommates to wash.
