The two seafood wastes evidenced distinct biosorption behav-
iour toward Hg2+, well depicted by the isotherms measured. While
the clam shell powder presented a favourable isotherm, with the
achievement of a complete monolayer coverage, estimated by the
Langmuir model at 245 mg/g, the crab carapace showed an
unfavourable isotherm with a
flat branch at very low concentrations
that becomes essentially vertical at CA,e of 25 mg/L. The
two isotherms intersect at CA,e circa14 mg/L which allows
concluding that the sorbents have distinct performance through
the CA,e range.
