RAT is taking the micky out of RICK saying he can definitely
shag tonight if he wants to - with Mr Hadleigh-Brown. RAT
doesn’t stop but taunts RICK relentlessly. RICK shudders and
clearly has found the experience horrible. RICK says he wants
to lie on the beach for a little and be by himself and just
look at the beauty of the nightime scenery.
They sit on the sand beside the road. RAT, in a rare moment
of sensitivity, says he was only joking and apologises.
RICK reaches for his Ipad. He’s got a message back from
AYESHA. He look at it, rather puzzled. He reads it out to
RAT:
“You, shitty skanky scumbag, horrendous heinous human;
insensitive ill-mannered idiot; you thoughtless trashy tacky
tosser.”
RICK says that’s really weird. Why’s she written that? RAT
doesn’t understand what he’s going on about. And what does
‘heinous’ mean? RICK explains to RAT every line spells out
“SHIT”. So it says “you shit”. RAT doesn’t care, but RICK is
intrigued. He says that’s really cool wordplay.
RAT gets up and says he’s going to get them beers. RICK gives
him the money wallet after pointing out they can only afford
one. RAT goes. RICK starts messaging back:
“Sometimes Shitty, often ordinary, rarely right, requiring
repair, yet yearning you....”
“Sorry” he says to himself.
A text comes back: “that’s OK. See you when you get back.
Miss u xxxxxx”
10.
RICK shuts his eyes and rests as the waves lap near him.
Time jump: RICK is woken by RAT. With RAT is a young hippy
type with long dreadlocks and whispy beard, an Australian
called RAMBO.
RAMBO is friendly and charming, the type that never stops
talking, always wearing a smile, a born salesman. Seems like
your best friend after you have just met him.
RAT introduces RAMBO to RICK and says he’s going to solve all
their money problems.
RAMBO gets out a handkerchief, unfolds it to reveal a diamond
inside. He explains he can sell this to them for only 4000
Baht. They will be able to sell it to one of the gem shops
tomorrow for at least 40,000 Baht. He can’t do it because
they’re getting suspicious as to why he has so many of these
beauties - and he is unable to explain that fact, he says,
with a twinkle in his eye.
RICK examines the diamond. It certainly looks like one. But
he concludes it is not a good idea - that’s all the money
they’ve got left. RAT says they can multiply their money by
They row about it. RAMBO weighs in, explaining how he
wouldn’t dream of selling them a dud, but in any case they
can test it by putting it in coca cola overnight - if it’s a
fake it will dissolve and he will give them their money back
tomorrow morning. He swears on his life. They won’t regret
it.
RICK still says no, but RAT (who has the money) gives the
whole lot to RAMBO. RICK is furious. RAMBO insists it’s a
good move. He gives his email address in case of problems.
