There must not be any connection between the rack and the building structure
The base of the rack column must be fixed to the ground using at least one anchor bolt, or two
where possible,
protection for the base of each column that gives on to the aisles when motorised handling
vehicles are used,
protective guard rails at the end of rows,
safety pins used to fix the shelves in place and prevent them from coming away from the
frames,
at least one meter gap between the top of the rack and the bottom of the roof, ceiling, heating
or sprinkler system,
installation of protective meshing or nets behind the rows opening on to the traffic lanes to
avoid objects falling from the back of the racks,
installation of a guiding system if three-way forklifts are used,
fitting of a full or openwork deck on the compartments directly above a traffic lane, or
compartments where picking operations are performed, although this configuration should be
avoided wherever possible,
fitting of a clearly-visible plate at the end of each row, indicating the maximum load per
compartment and per row,
