The effectiveness of Beauveria bassiana in controlling the brown planthopper [Nilaparvata lugens] and the green leafhopper [Nephotettix virescens] was tested in field-cage experiments in rice fields in China. The pathogen was applied as a dust containing 11 × 108 conidia/g. The pests were almost equally susceptible to all isolates (91-96% mortality) 10 days after treatment. Nephotettix virescens was more susceptible than Nilaparvata lugens.
