Kaem ling” literally means “monkey cheek.” As His Majesty the King has explained on many occasions, he observed that when a group of monkeys were given bananas to eat, each of them would grab the fruit, peel it, and toss it into its mouth, but would not be in a hurry to swallow it. Instead, it would hold the banana in its cheek pouch and grab another one and peel it and so on, until its mouth was quite full or there were no more bananas left. Then it would begin to chew and swallow the bananas one by one.
