Nanoclay reinforced elastomers are of increasing commercial interest as a result
of their improved properties at relatively low filler loadings. For wire and cable
applications, polymers such as EPDM are widely used as insulating materials. In these
applications, flame retardancy is an im portant property, where recent developments in
nanocomposites may offer a benefit in terms of flame resistance and im proved properties.
