◦ Acetylation is another method of modifying the surface of natural fibers and making them more hydrophobic.
◦ It describes the introduction of an acetyl functional group into an organic compound. The main idea of acetylation is to coat the OH groups of fibers which are responsible for their hydrophilic character with molecules that have a more hydrophobic nature.
