Although there is no direct
evidence showing that eating pla-som can cause O. viverrini infection
in humans, there is evidence suggesting that eating raw or uncooked
fish such as pla-som, pla-ra and Koi-Pla, are correlated with O. viverrini
infection, particularly in villagers in northeast Thailand (IARC, 1994;
Sripa et al., 2011).
