As a Project Manager, I oversee and direct construction management of the commercial building. This include setting up the estimates, the budgets and construction time schedule for client, developing the construction strategy, coordinating and collaborating with designers and contractors. I also ensure that the construction project complies with specifications and building codes.
As an Senior Cost Engineer, I manage all costs relating to building projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures.My role is to seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. I also keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability during the project is in progress.
My main responsibilities include:
- Preparing preliminary and detailed cost estimates to establish project budget, cashflow projections and financial statements to monitor and control cost and conducting cost reconciliation to meet client’s cost requirements
- Reviewing project objectives and ensuring projects are delivered in the most effective way
- Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
- Undertaking pre-qualification of tenderers
- Undertaking pre-contract work including preparation of estimates and taking off, tender documents, tender reports and tender evaluation
- Undertaking post-contract work including the administering contracts, processing of progress payments, variation orders, site meeting and settling of final account
- Coordinate a project to ensure all relevant deadlines are achieved
- Advising on procurement strategy
- Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
- Providing advice on contractual claims
