2.2 Preparation of plant extract
The aqueous extract was prepared as described by
Asongalem et al. [5], by maceration of 3.8 kg of sundried pulverized leaves of the plant in 10 L of boiled
distilled water for 24h. The extract was later filtered,
and the solvent eliminated by concentration in a rotor
evaporator under reduced pressure to give a yield of
400 g (10.52 %) of aqueous extract.
