The difference was mainly attributed to feedstock origins; e.g., feedstocks of predominantly agricultural and food industry residue (Base SS-2) accounted for just 1% of impacts on agricultural land occupation (ALO) compared to the co-digestion of predominantly energy crop feedstock and also reduced the climate change impacts by up to 30% (Table 2). Therefore, to maximize the environmental impacts mitigation, higher proportion of agricultural residues and organic waste streams should be included in codigestion scenarios.
