3.1.3. Inverter sizing
Following up the specified inverters used in Stage 1 [41], the
same models, i.e. the SMC 10000TL and SI5048, are employed in
this study. According to the specifications from the manufacturer,
the input power of SMC 10000TL is 10 kW. Thus, the total quantity
of the SMC 10000TL is 131 kW/10 kW 13. The charging voltage
for SI5408 is 48 V, and the total number is therefore 1488/
24 = 62, excluding some standbys.
3.2. Option 2 – conventional battery
In Option 2, two kinds of batteries are compared, which are
commonly used in off-grid PV systems. Option 2a uses the Solar-
Power 120 TV from Intact, and Option 2b and Option 2c utilize
the same model of BAT412201080 from Victron Energy but with
different DODs (50% and 100%). The objective of Option 2 is to
investigate the capital costs and performances under different
cases with batteries from diverse manufacturers, or for the same
battery types but with different DODs.
The procedures of sizing and economic evaluation are the same
as Option 1.
