The GM of Resort G perceived the HR manager’s role as not only advisory but also as
someone with a broader role of guiding, supporting and moulding employees:
The role of HR is that, you know, you are not only advising us on how to deal with them but
also a tutor or a guide or a leader to them. You are also a role model to them and you are a
father figure, you are an educated person, you are a friend, you are a counsellor, every single
