Today, we have another interesting food innovation to highlight: Haagen-Dazs’ Vegetable Ice Cream. While it is not yet sold in the US (vegetable ice cream flavors are launching in Japan this month), it may not be too long before we see more vegetable flavored snacks and desserts in our stores.
Haagen-Dazs’ two vegetable ice cream flavors, however, are pretty light on the veggies in our opinion: Cherry-Tomato (made with cherry juice + tomato paste) and Carrot-Orange (made with concentrated carrot juice + concentrated orange juice + orange pulp & peel). The sugar content is sure to be very high and outweigh any benefits you may get from the tomatoes and carrots (which are not even used in their full form, but instead a highly concentrated form that delivers more sugar and less fiber).
