Then the aged seeds were shade dried to its original moisture content. Both fresh and aged seeds of maize hybrid COH(M) 5 and its parental lines UMI 285 and UMI 61 were subjected to the priming treatments viz., (i) Soaking in water for 6 hrs; (ii) Soaking in 1% KH2PO4 for 6 hrs; (iii) Soaking in 3% KNO3 for 6 hrs and (iv) Soaking in 2% CaCl2 for 6 hrs. After priming, the seeds were removed from the solutions, rinsed in distilled water, redried to original moisture content under shade at room temperature and assessed for the following physiological seed quality parameters.
