In conclusion, our results indicate that Entrox-coated perilla seed oil capsules administered as a single dose do
not improve short-term bioavailability of ALA as compared to non-coated capsules. Since the lack of
improvement could be due to near maximal efficiency of absorption achieved for both supplements, the effect of
chronic treatment with Entrox-coated vs. non-coated formulation on ALA content in plasma and in red blood
cell phospholipids remains to be determined. Further studies should also help to examine the role of Entroxcoated
perilla seed oil capsules in facilitating conversion of ALA to longer chain o-3 fatty acids
