19.1.7 Operation under the voltage other than rated voltage
[Basic requirements]
Equipment to which voltages other than the rated voltage may be applied shall be constructed in such a way to avoid dangers even if voltages other than the rated voltage should be applied, in order to prevent smoke emission, ignition and fire hazards.
[Design standards]
1) Same as the Basic requirements mentioned above.
Note: The following are cases where half or double the rated voltage may be applied.
a) Wrong connection with power plug to the wall outlet having the different voltage for the equipment
b) Wrong setting of voltage selector incorporated in the equipment
c) Incorrect installation of the power network in the residence or premises, except for
disconnection of the neutral line
2) The equipment shall be constructed in such a way as to avoid fire hazards due to disconnection of the neutral line.
3) Industrial equipment and FA equipment, which comply with the requirements in Article 1.2, shall be considered to be in conformity with this requirement.
[Criteria]
1) Compliance is determined on the basis of whether the emission of smoke, ignition or fire is caused by the double voltage test for equipment with a voltage rating of 100 volts or the half voltage test for motor equipment with a voltage rating of 200 volts.
2) Compliance is determined on the basis of PCSS-Q-09003 "Safety test with the neutral line disconnected."
3) Compliance is determined on the basis of Article 1.2.
