The laminated paper-based sensor foils represent a cheap and robust optical temperature sensor material, where Oxygen cross-sensitivity was eliminated using a simple lamination process. Easy and very cost-effective fabrication combined with high flexibility are the main advantages of this sensor. Temperature measurements based on phase fluorimetry as well as ratio imaging showed a linear response to temperature with a high sensitivity and photostability. The laminated sensors also have excellent mechanical stability due to the PET foil. Altogether, this new low-cost sensor material should find widespread application in research labs as well as in industry and teaching.
