All the strains were grown on Mueller-Hinton agar (MHA) for the bacteria and Saboureaud Dextrose Agar (SDA) with Chloramphenicol for yeasts. The medium was obtained from IPA (Algiers, Algeria). Inocula were prepared in sterile saline from 24 h to 48 h cultures of bacteria and yeasts respectively, and standardized against 0.5 McFarland Standard to obtain suspensions containing approximately 108 cfu mL −1 of bacteria 106 cfu mL −1 of yeasts.
