Using the second mathematical approach presented by Decollete al. (2012, Eq. (20)), we estimated the number of plots needed to sample a given proportion of the asymptotic richness. Following this method we estimated that to sample 80% of the total richness estimated by Chan 2 we would need 100 plots. To sample 90% of the asymptotic richness, 195 plots would be needed; 293 plots to sample 95%, and astonishing 580 plots to sample 99% of the total richness.
