Cecropin P1 transgenic trout display enhanced resistance
to bacterial and viral pathogens.
• Besides its direct action of eliminating pathogens,
numerous genes in innate/adaptive immune pathways
were also affected in the host
• Microaray analysis revealed that chemokine signaling
pathway, leukocyte migration pathway, complement and
coagulation cascade and antigen process and
presentation pathway were robustly elevated in spleen
and kidney
• These results were confirmed by quantitative real-time
RT-PCR analysis
• Genes identified in this study could provide a database
for marker-assisted selection/breeding of aquaculture
important fish species for improved disease resistance
