Research Questions: A research gap is the development and performance of younger
children – in problem solving (cf. Heinze 2007) as well as in expertise (cf. Ericsson et
al. 1993; Ericsson 2006). Because of the “10-year rule” it cannot be expected to find
“real experts” in younger children, but there might be equivalents.
• Is there something like expertise in children at the age of 10?
• Granted that the first question can be answered positively, what can we learn
from or about those “student experts”?
