Rain detection algorithm using intensity-time domain transformation in scattering rain sensor used additional statistical formula such as mean and max to provide reliable response responding actual raining condition. In Fig. 7, the decision process using rain detection algorithm is shown. Experiment using rain chamber showed discrete responses between light rain and heavy rain. The output response from rain signal processor showed proportional response to rain drops. In rain chamber, rain sprayer was fabricated above windshield glass and water sprayer equipping with different size of nozzles. In case when averaging function is enabled, the sensor output showed slower response than the case with peak function. The test under actual raining condition may differ from simulated response using rain sprayer. Natural raining condition is random, which is out of control, thus it is hard to evaluate the output.
