Soil organic carbon at the Lmng site (0–0.1 m depth) ranged from
1.1 to 1.4%, while in the Amng plot it varied in the range 1.5–2.1%
(Fig. 4). At the Amng site, SOC tended to be higher in the in-row
(bands 3 and 4) where the organic amendment was spread (Fig. 4).
Information on spatial variability of SOC in perennial orchards especially
in the case of localised placement of amendment is scarce
making it difficult to benchmark our results. However, our findings
are in line with the non-significant variabilities of SOC observed
in arable croplands and in mixed deciduous forests (Conant et al.,
2003).
