In a one-to-one teaching situation the teacher is best
able to cue their teaching to the specific needs of the given
student. This may be an extra-curricular preparation for a
language exam, follow-up of the regular learning material
at school, development of special language areas, such as
oral communication or listening skills. In such a setup the
teacher’s role best resembles that of the buyer-seller
market: the customer has to define their needs that the
seller will try and meet.
