That deeper reason is that the world is simply not that interested. It
seems that we aren’t looking for better performance from our watches
in the terms that Senfine promises. We’d probably be more impressed
by better precision over a day. The COSC -4/+6 seconds per day may
represent over 99.99% accuracy, but reducing that to, say (as,
indeed, Rolex just did, for all movements) would catch the eye in the
way that a long power reserve doesn’t. Or ten-year service intervals,
another recent Rolex announcement. Of course, it may turn out that
Senfine offers these advantages, but until that’s demonstrated, it looks
like an idea whose time has already passed.
