than those in which original size particles (OSP) were used, except
for E&DSA pretreated solids. In the latter case no significant differences
were observed in ethanol concentrations after 72 h SSF. The
results also illustrated that the reduction in particle size after DSA
and E&LHW pretreatments led to smaller increases of the final
ethanol concentration (14.2% and 20.7%, respectively) compared to
those found after SSF carried out with LHWpretreated solids (86.8%).
