The MSW compost was obtained from the Lunenburg Regional Recycling and Composting Facility, where it was produced under aerobic conditions using an in-vessel system and placed in windrows for final maturing. Composting at the Lunenburg Facility took about three months; however, the compost was collected and stored over winter before field application. Composts were analysed for nutrient and trace element contents every year of the study. Results for compost macro- and micronutrient analyses for all four years are shown in Table 4. Fertility treatments were applied according to the schedule depicted in Table 3. Fertilizer and compost were hand broadcast on each plot in April.
