NEW TIER 4 VISA REQUIREMENT
Tier 4 Visa applicants and their dependants are now required to pay a contribution to UK health service costs known as an Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS). This health surcharge is compulsory and must be paid in addition to the Tier 4 Visa application fee. Failure to pay the IHS will result in a Tier 4 Visa application being refused or returned as invalid.
Please note that you do not have to pay the IHS if you are applying from outside the UK for any type of visa where the duration is 6 months or less. This means that if you are applying for a visa for a summer Pre-Sessional course and you are making your application from overseas, you do not need to pay the IHS. Please note however that you will need to pay the IHS when you apply for the visa for your main programme.
For information on who has to pay, the cost of the payment and how you will need to pay this contribution, please refer to the UKVI website for guidance: www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigration-application/pay
