Key Concept 2:
Social entrepreneurs aim to create social value (i.e. producing maximum utility and values to the society, the “we” and the “world”) by making an effort on the “means” to generate new, disruptive models for organizing human activity, in solving social problems and creatively fulfilling a social need. In that it has upheld a principle (deontological approach) to value innovation and in developing and organizing human capacities and activities to bring about the quality of life and productivity to the societies. The social value is clear in that without these social innovation initiatives undertaken by social entrepreneurs, the status quo would stand uncontested and critical societal challenges would remain unresolved. In short social entrepreneurs have enacted a social-value-enabled transformative role.
