Field release of C. flavipes
Kampaeng Saen district in Nakhon Pathom province and Sai Yok district in Kanchanaburi province was
selected as investigation sites. Sugarcane moth borers were considered a serious pest in these sites. At each
site 2 plots (ca. 180 acres) were selected as release and control plots. The latter was located some 20 k~n away
from the release plot. Sugarcane was planted in rows at 25x100 cnl spacing and variety K. 80 was used at
both locations. All these areas were subjected to the same cultural practices and under rainfed condition.
Herbicides were used for weed control but no insecticide was used in investigation sites.
HD~ '00 adults of C. flavipes were released in 1 acre every two weeks for the first 3 months of plant growth.
?~bsecluei.~ releases were made every two months until two months before harvesting.
