EN54 Standards require defined conditions under which sensors are subjected to
test fires. The tests have to be carried out within a room that is between 9 and 11m in
length, between 6 and 8m in width and about 4m in height. Test fires are located on
the floor at the center of the room. Sensors are placed at the ceiling, 3m from the
centerline of the fires. In addition, the fire detection laboratory is equipped with
special smoke density measuring devices based on ionization and light extinction
principles, and distributed temperature sensors.
