Freeware - Software which is in the public domain. Anybody can use it
without paying.
Open-Source - Freeware in which the source code is revealed and available for
modification. Any modified version must be published under the open-source
license.
Demo - Software which has limited function comparing with the full version. The
demo version is published for free as the advertisement of its full version.
Shareware/Trial Version - Software which is available to use for a period of time.
When the trial period ends, the user has to buy a license or the program will
deactivate.
Licensed - Software with full function for commercial distribution. Licenses can be
issued for personal use, multiple use, or commercial use. Modification is prohibited
and re-distribution is strictly controlled.
Home Edition – A simplified version of its professional edition which is cheaper to buy.
Custom Designed Software – Software that is made to order to perfectly match
customer’s need.
