2014 was also a year we have made major improvements in energy auditing. A detailed analysis of past consumption pattern showed that, despite some passive designs of the buildings, almost 60% of the energy consumption was used in cooling the buildings and another 27% for lighting. The findings led to the implement of energy-saving measures such as the maintenance of the split-type air conditioners and the optimization of light settings which saved some 335,000 kWh last year. The energy-saving components in the behavior-oriented 5S activities were also tightened in particular the usage of air conditioners. Last but not least, the Energy Conservation Work of the Building Division has added the activity-based energy accounting to its monthly reports that is disseminated to all units. The activity-based data are more tailored to the nature of different units than previously aggregated figures and empower them to make and monitor improvements resulting from their conservation measures.
