SSADM was introduced in 1981 as the standard method of analysis and design developed
by CCTA (Central Computing and Telecommunications Agency) for UK Government
projects. OGCIO (the then ITSD) adopted SSADM since May 1988. After a series of
successful pilot implementation, the full implementation of SSADM commenced in 1991.
Since November 1991, all administrative computer systems developed in OGCIO (the
then ITSD) used SSADM (or Rapid Application Development (RAD) since November
1997). Currently, a customised SSADM Version 4.2 is being adopted which was
developed based on CCTA's International SSADM Version 4.2.
