The pH values were determined using the method ofDowson
and Aten (1963). Four grams of date pulp were dispersed in a flask
with 200 ml of boiling water. After cooling, the flask was made up
to volume with distiled water. This solution was used for the deter-mination of the pH by using a pH-meter.
